The Spring Athletic Season is already upon us, and scrimmages have started up at Grand & Warren. Join us for a look at what's ahead...But first, looking back on Prep’s extraordinary Winter Season, please join us in congratulating all our student athletes on some unforgettable highlights!
More than 100 boys from nearly 30 middle schools across New Jersey joined members of the Classes of 2024 and 2025 at Grand & Warren on March 22 for an all-day workshop on leadership hosted in conjunction with students from Saint Dominic Academy.
The Prep community gathered in the gym on March 20 for an Arrupe Keynote panel that led us on a metaphorical pilgrimage with the US prison system to learn more about the lived realities of individuals who have been incarcerated or accused. For more than 20 years, this annual Prep tradition, named for Pedro Arrupe, S.J., the late superior general of the Jesuits, who charged the religious order with its modern mission of forming “men and women for and with others,” explores a different topic related to social justice.
Prep’s Celtic Club and Sheehan Scholars co-hosted a Q&A session in the library on March 8 featuring guest speaker Senator Gerry Horkan, a member of the Fianna Fáil political party who serves on the Industrial and Commercial Panel in the upper house of the Oireachtas, the bicameral parliament of Ireland.
Competing among more than 3,000 delegates representing schools from 30 different countries in their first ever international conference, Prep's Model UN team won Best Small Delegation at the Global Citizens Model UN, held at the United Nations campus in New York. This victory marks the team's fourth Small Delegation win and their third this competitive season.
A panel of distinguished guests joined the Prep community on February 28 for a special PM in the AM (Prep Men in the Morning) session sponsored by Prep’s Ebony Club, our oldest cultural organization, which is currently celebrating their landmark 50th anniversary at Grand & Warren. Olympic Medalist, civil rights activist, former track and field athlete, and USA Track & Field Hall of Fame member Dr. John Carlos joined two Prep alumni, Clark Burnett, ’15, former Ebony Club president, film director, and Yale graduate, and Brandon Wimbush, ’15, former Prep quarterback and co-founder of the company MOGL, to discuss their lives, careers, and achievements.
Celebrations recognizing February as Black History Month are currently underway at Saint Peter’s Prep and will continue through the end of the month. Representatives of Prep's Ebony Club—our oldest cultural organization currently celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary at Grand & Warren—have been leading us in daily prayer and have planned several other initiatives to help spread awareness and build community.
Three staff members joined an audience of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in Prep’s gymnasium on January 31 as part of a “People of Prep” panel, an assembly organized by the Office of Student Life as part of this year’s ongoing  “Prep Men in the Morning” (PM in the AM) programming, covering topics pertinent to Jesuit high school students. The session served, in part, to introduce the student body to members of the Prep community that work outside the classroom and to shed light on the roles they play at Grand & Warren.
Prep Closed Tues. January 16
Due to the timing of the storm, Saint Peter's Prep will be closed on Tuesday, January 16. We will shift the first day of exams to January 17, and exams will run through Monday, January 22. Tuesday, January 23 will be our exam makeup day. Wednesday, January 24 will be a B Day and the first day of the third marking period.
Christmas spirit filled the packed house at the Annual Winter Concert on Sunday, December 10, featuring performances by Prep’s Concert Band, Sodality Jazz Band, and Vox. Family, friends, faculty, staff, and fellow students gathered in the O’Keefe Commons for an afternoon of old and new holiday favorites, refreshments, and basket raffles in support of Saint Peter’s music programs.
