For more than a century, the Petrean has chronicled life at Grand & Warren through the eyes of the students, and especially the senior class. Much has changed in the past 100 years, including the title – it was originally known as the Cephean – but Prep’s yearbook has remained a constant presence. Taken as a whole, the Petrean is a document of changing styles, tastes and times, but also of the continuity of the Prep tradition throughout the generations. The history of Saint Peter’s Prep—not to mention Jersey City—comes to life page by page.We invite you to browse our collection and discover Prep as you remember it, or as your father or grandfather remembered it, or even as your son or grandson remembers it!
The yearbooks scanned for this project come from the Office of Alumni Relations. Some pages are marked with handwritten notes, an artifact of a bygone era in which the notes of Fr. James Dolan, S.J., ’32 in the margins of our yearbooks were our only “database” of alumni information like weddings, changes of address and deaths. We hope you will look upon any of these notes not as “damage” but as part of the historical character of a particular collection of Prep yearbooks!
