Last year Saint Peter’s Prep and St. Dominic Academy hosted MakeSPP — a free in-person Hack-a-thon bringing together 150+ students in 7th-12th grade from the NJ/NY area. After last year’s tremendous success, MakeSPP is going to return for the fifth annual event on April 1st, 2023, in the O’Keefe Commons here at Prep.

No prior experience is necessary — whether a novice or an expert, come work on innovative projects, meet other talented makers, and gain insight from college students, industry professionals, and other experienced programmers. We have mentors to assist you with your projects throughout the day, teachers who offer breakout classes and workshops covering crucial coding concepts.

Throughout the day, you will work on coding projects in teams of 2-4, attend workshops, learn from accomplished mentors, and hear from successful keynote speakers from the technology industry, fully embracing the boundless world of coding. An exciting competition at the end of the event will determine the best projects by judges from the coding industry, and winners will take home thousands of dollars in prizes. Last year’s prizes included AirPod Pros, Amazon Gift Cards, Rocketbooks, Arduino starter kits, and other awesome technology.

Lunch, dinner, snacks, cookies, and drinks are provided for all participants. Custom MakeSPP t-shirts and stickers are complementary and will be given to all attendees.

Spots are filling up fast, so REGISTER FOR FREE at our website https://www.makespp.org/ today before it’s too late! Send an email out to the MakeSPP team with any further questions (schreiberl24@students.spprep.org). We look forward to seeing you soon! Good luck!
