The Prep community raised more than $8,500 for pediatric cancer research in an inaugural St. Baldrick’s Foundation event on April 7, organized by junior Patrick Naughton, ‘26 with support from the Office of Campus Ministry and the Office of Student Life.
Hair filled our lobby as students, faculty, and coaches gathered after school to shave their heads in solidarity with children who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatments.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. It is known for events such as this one, during which participants also raise funds to support its mission.
“Cancer remains the leading cause of death among children due to disease, but with continued research, we can make a difference,” Naughton said in an email launching the initiative, which will hopefully be the first in a new annual tradition.
We were also thrilled to welcome two alumni barbers that day: Danny Vecchiarelli, ’07 of Bello by Daniel Ross and Calvin Alston, ’11 of West Kee’s Barbershop. We also thank guest barbers Enrique Rodriguez of Cut It Out Barbershop and Carlos Alvez of Bello by Daniel Ross, as well as everyone who played a role in the event’s success, in keeping with our own Jesuit mission of preparing young men for and with others.
