Prep’s annual Interfaith Prayer Service is a decades-strong tradition that gathers us together just before we depart for the Thanksgiving break. Once again, the Prep community filled the gym on Wednesday afternoon for a service led by members of the Campus Ministry Team, celebrating the importance of gratitude in some of the many faith traditions found among Prep’s student body.
It was also a time to celebrate generosity, as the Great Ignatian challenge concluded with a record-breaking result. Mr. Keith Cummings, ’10, assistant director of campus ministry, announced at the start of the service that Prep had collected 30,629 pounds of food during the annual food drive. With so much food collected, Prep was able to support eight different local organizations: Angela Cares, Hunger Free UIC, Oliver Care Kidney Organization, Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry, St. Joseph’s Home (The York St. Project), St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry, Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry, and Zion Cares.
