Last weekend, Prep Soccer and Prep Cross Country secured their respective Hudson County championships, and both now look to the state level. Crew competed in Boston at the prestigious Head of the Charles, Water Polo heads into the state duals after a win over Blair on Wednesday, and football looks for a strong finish to the regular season this weekend. Soccer Takes First HCIAL Title since 2019

On Thursday night, Prep Soccer battled Kearny to a hard-fought 2-1 win at Red Bull Arena, powered by two goals from freshman Philip Sayouwoh, ’27 and stout goalkeeping by Simon Yanez, ’24.

The team was back in action Saturday, closing out the regular season with a 6-0 win over Dickinson. The Marauders are the #2 seed in the South Jersey Non-Public A bracket, and will await the winner of Friday’s match between #7 seed St. John Vianney and #10 seed Donovan Catholic. Prep will play host team that advances in a quarterfinal on Tuesday, 10/31.


XC’s Turn Atop the Podium

On Saturday it was Cross Country‘s turn to compete for HCIAL glory, and the team did not disappoint. Prep swept the varsity, JV, and freshman titles. In addition, Junior Aidan Prucher, ’25 set a Bayonne Park course record. The varsity title is Prep’s seventh in a row. Next up for XC are the NJSIAA group championships and the NJCTC championships, in early November.


Briefly Noted

Prep Crew competed last weekend in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. The HOCR is the world’s largest three-day regatta, and has boasted 11,000 athletes rowing in over 1,900 boats. This weekend the team heads to Saratoga to compete in the Head of the Fish.

Prep Water Polo finished out the regular season on Wednesday with an 8-5 win over Blair Academy, giving the Marauders momentum as they head into the Garden State Duals. Tournament action begins Friday in Lawrenceville.

Prep Football visits Seton Hall in a 1pm start on Saturday, closing out the regular season.
