Last weekend at the Venetian, 256 guests (and a total of 507 silent auction and Fund-a-Scholar participants) participated in the 16th annual Grand Gala, a cocktail buffet reception and auction that benefits Prep’s Financial Aid Program. The event’s sponsors, volunteers, and participants helped Prep raise over $258,000, which will help to keep a Jesuit education affordable for students and their families.

In welcoming the guests, Prep President Michael Gomez, Ed.D., ’91 described the “Why” of Prep’s mission: “

We are educating and forming [students] so they learn how to live, how to live as Prep men. We are developing men who recognize the joy in hard work not just in studies or their careers, but in all areas of life–their friendships, their families, their love, their faith, their service.”

The goal of the Gala, he explained, is to keep that formative experience open to students ready to take it on. “there are families who love and appreciate the why, and young men who are ready to buy into it, but they hit a why not. We do not want the cost of attending Prep to become their why not.

Guests enjoyed a buffet dinner featuring carving and pasta stations, a sushi bar, a sake bar, a vodka bar, charcuterie tables, and more, and a condensed program left plenty of time to enjoy the musical stylings of the live band and hit the dance floor!

Thank you to all who participated in this celebration of Prep’s mission—and provided vital support to that mission! Special thanks go to the Gala co-chairs: Jennifer and Thomas F. Blunda, ’87, P’25; Erika and Francis Briamonte, ’86, P’25; Nancy and Nicholas A. Chiaravalloti, ’90, P’22,’23; Maura and T.J.
