To kick off Black History Month, one of Prep’s longest-running student organizations hosted the first PM in the AM assembly of February. Prep’s Ebony Club organized the panel discussion, Seeing the World of Art Through the Lens of Black Artists.
Bryce Anderson, ’23, president of the Ebony Club, explained, “The panel encouraged students to explore the world of art through the lens of Black artists. The goal was to raise awareness of the uniqueness of both Black art and artists, celebrate art as a whole, and gain a more explicit understanding of what it means to be a Black artist.”
He added, “We hoped to grow our fellow classmates’ love and appreciation of art, and possibly cultivate or spark an interest in a medium or genre one may have not have thought about before this panel. “
Special thanks to our talented panelists: Heather Williams, Tiana Evans, Eric Pryor, and Rashad Malik Davis, ’09.
