Dear Friends of Prep,
I am beginning my 33rd year as the Head Football Coach at Saint Peter’s Prep. I am also beginning my 32nd year as Prep’s Athletic Director. The past six months have presented very unique circumstances for high school athletics—especially athletic administrators across the state and country. I expect these challenges will not be short-term, and will continue to put stress on our social and professional lives.
As we begin the 2020 season, I am announcing it will be my last as Head Coach of our program. It is time to share this opportunity for growth with others. I don’t want to selfishly continue, but rather continue to do what I feel is best for Saint Peter’s Prep, our student-athletes and coaches. I am proud of our accomplishments over the 38 years since joining the staff, and I cherish the hundreds of relationships I’ve developed with my players and their families and with colleagues. Our program has gone from a doormat to national prominence, but the true testament to our success is in those relationships.
I will continue in my role as Athletic Director and take special pride in continuing to develop our entire athletic program and serve the student-athletes, coaches and staff to the best of my ability. We have more work to do, more challenges to meet and I intend to do so with passion and vigor.
I also hope to serve in my current roles as an Executive Committee member of the SFC and NJFCA—both instrumental in ushering in this fall season. I will also continue to be active within the NJSIAA as a member of the Football Committee and in other roles as they see fit.
I also want to thank the many members of the media who have treated me fairly and have been open and honest in our interactions throughout the years. I truly appreciate their demonstrated professionalism.
Let’s all work for a great, safe and successful 2020 season for all.
