Following the success of the Prep Alumni Association’s first McGovern March Madness dinner, we’re excited to continue a new tradition for all Prep graduates and families! On Thursday, March 19, we invite you to make your way back to Prep, as we join together in the O’Keefe Commons for a viewing of the NCAA Tournament’s first-round games, officially kicking off March Madness with a beefsteak dinner!
A member of the Prep Basketball Team from 1976 to 1980, John McGovern, ’80 passed away suddenly in 1988. John Feeney, ’80, a classmate and friend of John McGovern’s, played an integral role in the creation of the McGovern Scholarship and 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in the mid 90’s. Although the tournament is no longer running, the scholarship is still thriving and continues to support a Prep student throughout his four years at Grand & Warren.
What better way to celebrate John McGovern’s legacy than enjoying a night of college basketball and Prep pride? Register today for the 2020 McGovern March Madness Beefsteak Dinner, which includes an open bar, all-you-can-eat beefsteak dinner, and a viewing of the games on multiple screens. Admission is $40 per person. All proceeds will go to the John McGovern, ’80 Scholarship.
Get in on the action before the event starts! Prep’s Alumni Association has its own group on ESPN.com, where you can create your own brackets and compete against other alumni. Click here to join the Saint Peter’s Prep Alumni group and get started today!
