The Saint Peter’s Prep track and field team showed its dominance by winning its ninth straight Jersey City Indoor Championship with one of the highest scoring performances on Wednesday at the Jersey City Armory in Jersey City.
The Marauders, who also won the freshman championship, finished with 129 points, 85 more points than second place teams Hudson Catholic and Snyder.
Luqman Gbadamassi led the charge for SPP by winning the 55m hurdles (7.87) and the 400m (51.59) while Joey Morrone finished second in both events with a time of 7.93 and 51.62. Gbadamassi and Morrone now have the top two times in the county with Morrone leading in the 400m with his 51.56 earlier in the season.
Rodolfo Sanchez won the 3200m run with a new indoor personal best time of 9:45.28 while Luke Bradley (9:47.09) and Tyler Parrado (10:10.31) finished in second and third, respectively. Jack Sipperly won the 800m (2:07.32) and Jack Glynn won the 1600m (4:51.86).
Next up for the Marauders will be the Bill Reid Invitational on Friday at the Jersey City Armory. Meet begins at 4:00 P.M.
