In varied ways throughout the month of October, the Prep community observed Breast Cancer Awareness Month, standing in solidarity with individuals and families affected by the disease.

On the second floor of the Moriarty Science Center, meanwhile, a large bulletin board was gradually inundated with pink cards. Ms. Siobhan Rios of the science department created the display, inviting members of the community to complete the sentence, “I go pink for…” with the name of a friend or loved one who has been affected by breast cancer.

At the month’s midpoint, the first “Causes” dress-down day of the year, just before the transition from warm-weather to regular dress code, yielded more than $1400 in contributions for cancer research. Students were, naturally, encouraged to wear pink to show their support.
