As 6-0 Prep Football (#2 in the state and climbing to #6 in the CAC national top 25) looks ahead to Paramus Catholic on Friday night, the team paused to celebrate Cody Simon, ’20, who has been selected as a 2020 U.S. Army All-American. Cody was presented with his jersey after school Thursday during a ceremony in the gym. He will play in the 20th Annual All-American Bowl on January 4 in San Antonio.
Televised live on NBC, the All-American bowl is the nation’s premier showcase for high school athletes. With more than 40,000 fans in attendance and more than 5 million TV viewers each year, it is the most-watched high school sporting event of the year. Out of more than a million high school players in the United States, only the top 100 are invited to participate each year
Among the numerous college and pro football stars who have played in the All-American Bowl, Cody becomes the third Prep player (and second Simon brother!) to receive the honor in three years. Cody’s brother, Shayne Simon, and Jayson Ademilola (now teammates at Notre Dame) were both 2018 All-Americans.
