The Class of 1959 came home to Grand and Warren last weekend to celebrate their 60th Reunion, with three days of activities planned with the input of class chairman Ed Alberque, ’59.
Campus tours and a cocktail reception in the Prep Library kicked off the weekend on Friday night, with a private bus to the Varsity Football game at DePaul Catholic to end the evening. Prep took home the win, with a score of 41-22, which reminded this reunion group of the undefeated 1958-1959 Football Team. Saturday morning kicked off with a two-hour bus tour of Jersey City, led by local historian and prep parent John Hallanan, P’99, which gave the alumni a chance to see what’s changed in the area since the late ’50s. Saturday night brought the group back together at Prep for dinner and dancing in the O’Keefe Commons.
The festivities concluded on Sunday morning, with Mass celebrated by Fr. Tony Azzarto, S.J., and the presentation of Platinum diplomas. After Mass, the group made its way over to the Light Horse Tavern to wrap up their reunion weekend with a private brunch. With a total of 30 alumni, throughout the weekend, it was a milestone for the books!
