The Saint Peter’s Prep cross country team continued their early-season dominance with one first place finish and two second place finishes at the Garret Mountain Invitational in Woodland Park on Saturday.
The sophomore squad started the day off strong with a close second place finish to Randolph, 39-59. Brandon Schimmel led a 1-2-3 finish for the Marauders with a time of 18:49. Alex Puhak and Joshua Pascale were right on his heels, running 19:05 and 19:21, respectively. Jack Morrison (22:14) and Cyril Maliakal (22:27) rounded out the top 5, finishing in 36th and 40th place.
Alex Gudaitis led Prep to a first place showing in the junior varsity race, finishing first overall out of 183 runners with a time of 18:38. Patrick McCabe was up next for Prep, finishing second overall with a time of 18:40. Sebastian Colie (19:01), Sebastian Pena (19:02) and Samuel Leonte (19:07) rounded out the top 5, finishing in 4th, 5th and 9th place.
The final race of the day was the freshman 2 mile race. Max Hartelius led the freshman to a second place showing, finishing the race in fourth place out of 134 runners with a new personal record time of 11:55. Antoine Hurtado-Barzac (12:26), Teddy McCarthy (12:44), Griffin Burk (12:52) and Beckett Johnson-Walters (12:52) rounded out the top 5, finishing in 11th, 18th, 23rd and 24th place.
Next up will be the Shore Coaches Invitational on Saturday at Holmdel Park. First race goes off at 1:30 P.M.
