The St. Peter’s Prep cross county team had some great performances at the Bernie Magee Memorial Class Meet on Saturday at Greystone Park.
The junior team started the meet of strong with some season’s best and personal records. Sebastian Colie led the charge with a time of 18:35.3 in the 5k race, which was good for 54th place out of 334 runners. Next up was Joaquin Matti, finishing in 89th place, with a new personal record of 19:16.2. James Slowinski finished 116th with a personal best time of 19:44.3 while Charles McCann fought through ankle pain to finish with a time of 21:47.5.
In the senior race, Samuel Leonte was the lone senior. Leonte battled it out to finish with a time of 19:08.1, good for 92nd place out of 290 runners.
The sophomore team continued the overall strong performance, finishing 2nd overall out of 26 teams. Luke Bradley led the charge, finishing in third place out of runners with a time of 16:36.1. Brandon Shimmel was next up for prep, finishing in 20th place with a time of 18:16.3. Joshua Pascale dropped a huge personal record with a time of 18:39.1, finishing in 32nd place, while Alex Puhak ran 19:22.60, good for 59th place. Rounding out the sophomore group was Christopher Gliatto (22:06.1), Jack Morrison (22:08.5), Cyril Maliakal (22:20.6) and Aidan Mancha (29:11.10).
Finally, the freshman team was led by Max Hartelius, which had 12:19.4 for the 3400 meter course, good for 17th place out of 301 runners. Next up was Theodore McCarhy, finishing in 38th place with a time of 12:49.5. Following Theodore was Griffin Burk who finished in 65th place with a time of 13:23.5. Rounding out the freshman group was Richard Harrington (13:42.9), Jared Edwards (13:49.5), Kaimana Voelkl (14:20.3), Tarran Mohan (15:31.0), Andrew Williams (16:37.1).
Next up for Prep will be the Bowdoin XC Classic in Wappingers, NY and the Garret Invitational in Woodland, NJ. Both meets are on Saturday at 9 A.M.
