As a full complement of students returned to Grand & Warren for the first time since May, life at Prep returned – at last – to the normal rhythm of the school year. Throughout the 470 years of Jesuit education, the Mass of the Holy Spirit has been among the first steps in a new year’s journey, a time to ask for the grace to approach the new year ready to rise to its challenges and opportunities, and open to God’s presence.

In the spirit of asking blessings for a new journey, highlights of the celebration included commissioning new Eucharistic Ministers, and special blessings for the Student Council, the new faculty and staff members, the Campus Ministry Team, the freshman class of 2022, and the transfer students joining the Prep community this year.

Despite gray skies, the weather remained dry, allowing a more recent tradition to continue: namely, celebrating the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the courtyard, and heralding the start of a new school year not only to the Prep community, but to the broader community of downtown Jersey City.
