Spirit Awards and Dorothy Day Society Recognition During Senior Exit Day

Thursday was Senior Exit Day for the Class of 2017, a whirlwind of final report cards, senior conversations with faculty and staff members, alumni presentations, and graduation rehearsal. At day's end, the class had a chance to recognize four classmates as the last Prep Spirit Award winners for the Class of '17, as well as five new members of Prep's Dorothy Day Society.

Please join us in congratulating the Spirit Award recipients. Left to right: Daniel Manganello, Stuart Callinan, Cesar Esteban, and Lucas Coleman.

The Prep Spirit Award program was established in 1980 by then-principal Fr. John Browning, S.J., '46, to recognize the unsung heroes who model the qualities and values that define a Prep student.

The newest members of the Dorothy Day Society, left to right, are Brando Mercado, Luke Giunta, Michael Castaldo, Angus Applegarth, and Frank Pellegrino.

The Dorothy Day Society is a group of Saint Peter's Prep seniors recognized by their peers, teachers, administrators, and other members of the Prep community for exemplary commitment to justice and service to the poor and marginalized. These are students who serve and work for justice not because it is “fair," but instead because of call to share God’s love with all people, regardless of socioeconomic status, disability, or age.
