Rich Hansen has been at St. Peter’s Prep for 34 seasons, the past 27 seasons as the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. As Prep’s Head Coach he has won 18 Hudson County Titles, 4 NJSIAA Titles while being ranked in NJ’s “Top 20” 20 times. His teams have twice been tabbed as NJ’s #1 team, with his 2005 and 2014 squad garnering the MSG Network’s Tri-State #1 ranking. Prep was ranked as the #12 team in the nation and #3 private school team in the USA. His undefeated and State Champion ’94 team finished as NJ’s #1 and the nation’s #5 team. In ’06 his squad sat atop the Tri-State rankings for 13 consecutive weeks and finished as the Tri-State’s #2 team while compiling an 11-1 record. In '11 Saint Peter’s extended its’ Hudson County win streak to 97 straight and won an 11th consecutive HCIAA. Along the way Hansen surpassed the legendary Bill Cochrane as St. Peter’s all time winningest coach with a record of 197-52-1 record. Hansen has been tabbed “Hudson County Coach of the Year” 14 times, while also being named The Star Ledger’s State “Coach of the Year” and NJFCA Section “Coach of the Year” on two occasions. Additionally, Rich Hansen has twice been named as the “New York Giant Coach of the Week”, an award named in honor of NJ coaching legend Lou Rettino. This past season he was recognized by the US Army at the National High School All-Star game in San Antonio, Texas as one of twenty All-American National Coaches. Rich has also served as a representative for the NJ Football Coaches’ Association and NJSIAA Football Committee, has served as HCIAA President and HCFCA President and is a member of the NJSFCA Hall of Fame and the NJSCA Hall of Fame. He has coached in NJ’s North-South classic, NJ/NY Governor’s Bowl, the Paul Robeson Classic, the All-Shore Classic and the Hudson County All-Star Jamboree. Most recently Coach Hansen was selected to serve on staff at the inaugural ESPN/Under Armour All American All Star Game in Orlando Florida. Coach served as the running back coach for Head Coach and NFL legend Ron Meyer. Hansen has also spoken at clinics and workshops on college campuses across the country and has had many articles and bodies of work published in manuals such as Football Quarterly, Athletic Management and National Coaches magazine.
Rich also serves as the Director of Athletics and is Chairman of the St. Peter’s Prep Physical Education/Health Department. He has worked at St. Peter’s for 34 years and received the school’s Bene Merenti Award in 2002. As Athletic Director, the Prep program has experienced unparalleled growth and success. St. Peter’s teams have compiled an astounding 255 championships while expanding to 18 sports, 38 teams with a staff of 73 coaches. His efforts have been rewarded by being named HCIAA Athletic Director of the Year on 3 occasions.
Rich is a graduate of Jersey City State College, is married to his wife Elisse for 32 years and is the proud father of 4 children, Rich, '03, Prep’s current Defensive Coordinator, Nicole, Dan, '09, and Kelsey.

• Has served as the Defensive Coordinator since the 2007 season.
• Was an all-county linebacker and captain at Prep; graduated in 2003.
• Graduated from St. Peter's College in 2007 with a Computer Science degree.
• Currently serves as the school's Assistant Athletic Director and teaches Physical Education & Health.

Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks: Bill Fitzgerald, '99
• Began serving as Prep's Offensive Coordinator in 2011 after serving as the Offensive Pass Coordinator in 2010.
• Graduated from Prep in 1999 as an All-County Quarterback.
• Went on to play for Union College and graduate in 2003 with a Psychology degree.
• Prior coaching experience includes Utica College and Dumont High School.
